About this piece
A lighthouse stands on a spit of warm rock while the sea behind it churns in granulating indigo and slate, salt-spray lifted out in raw white paper. A soft halo of yellow glows around the lamp — a single point of human warmth against the cold. The contrast of the precise little tower and the wild, loosely-painted water is what makes it sing.
