About this piece
A silver fish lifts its head into a sky of poured ochre, the waterline cutting the composition clean in two. Below the surface the body dissolves into a constellation of bubble-rings and iridescent blues; above it, the eye holds you with a single ringed pupil. The lifted-resist circles — Doljenkova's signature salt-and-sphere texture — give the piece the shimmer of light fracturing on water. A small painting with an oddly monumental presence.
